Another mini newborn session for me to share as a Trigg newborn photographer. I have had the option for mini newborn sessions for about six months now. I totally understand that some families only need a few special images to record their memory. That is why I offer a smaller session. However, I think I have to cancel newborns as an option for these sessions.
To get beautiful photos of a newborn baby you really need them to be as relaxed as possible, ideally sleeping. I adore eye contact and always aim to capture some images when baby is looking. But because of the strong startle reflex of a newborn we can’t do much else with them awake. This is why we always wrap awake newborns to keep their limbs from going everywhere. They are so used to being in a tight spot (the womb) that they actually find it very comforting. Wrapping can sometimes help bub fall asleep.
But newborns are little people just like us. If they are not tired there is no way they will rest. Forcing them to do something they don’t want to do will definitely start the tears rolling. So traditional newborn sessions are always booked in allowing for between two to four hours because if this. I am finding the pressure to get the images in a short time frame a bit tricky. As a parent myself, I think most would understand why I can’t do mini sessions with their newborn. I hope that caring about you sets me apart as a Trigg newborn photographer.
