Once again, I'm so thankful to have you as a client. Especially when visiting this beautiful orchard during the magical spring season.
Here's a quick blurb about me. I am a forty something wife and mamma of four - three girls and a boy! I have been photographing Perth's cutest families for over ten years now. I focus mainly on finding and capturing the unique connections within families. Sessions with me are laid back and relaxed, you won't find me barking orders to get your attention. Don't worry about looking funny or awkward, I've spent a long time perfecting the art of getting comfortable during a photo session and your family is no exception.

Here's a quick blurb about me. I am a forty something wife and mamma of four - three girls and a boy! I have been photographing Perth's cutest families for over ten years now. I focus mainly on finding and capturing the unique connections within families. Sessions with me are laid back and relaxed, you won't find me barking orders to get your attention. To get the very best out of your photos, I suggest you think about what to wear that stays true to your family style, but will also suit the location and looks awesome displayed in your home.

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR CHILDREN
Are your children camera shy? Because the session is so short, we need everyone ready to go during your time slot. You will find my tips below on the best way of getting the whole family ready.

CONFIRM THE PLAN
2 days before your session, I send a last reminder email.
There is one important factor that is out of our control that can mess with the schedule though - the weather and sickness! This is when I'll let you know if we need to change our plans.

INCLEMENT WEATHER
What happens if it is raining? I will reschedule the outdoor sessions! But only for pouring rain - a cloudy day doesn't bother me at all.
In the case of rain, I will reschedule to my next available date. I will move the entire days schedule if it becomes necessary, not individual sessions.

SICKNESS
Arghhhh, I really hope your family doesn't get sick. Unfortunately, sick kids (and adults) will not be in the mood for the fun and energy of a shoot. You need to cancel.
Please let me know if you are unwell 24 hours prior to your booking. No shows forfeit their payment.

Because the mini sessions are booked back to back, it is imperative that you arrive on time. Starting just 10 minutes late will affect the entire day.
The Spring Blossom Festival is very busy on weekends during the short weeks the flowers are in bloom. Please arrive early to make sure you find a carpark, and get through the entry gate.

SHOOT DAY
Your session is here!
Yay, this is the best part! We get to meet and capture the magic. We will hug and play - out in the beauty of nature. Because of the short time frame, I will direct your family more than usual so that you get a nice variety in your gallery. But feel free to be yourselves and have fun. Most of the time everyone just needs a little bit of direction and encouragement for the magic to happen.

GALLERY DELIVERY
On Friday 26th of September, the proofing galleries will roll out to all the families that attended!!
Grab the tissues and relive the experience through my eyes. Aren't you just the sweetest? You have the weekend to decide on the images you want to keep forever. This is the time to add prints if you like.
Your proofing gallery will remain open until 9pm Monday 29th of September.
You will need to send me your selection before the closing time, otherwise there will be a $20 fee to reopen the gallery. There are a lot of families booked in and I need to streamline this process so it doesn't impact my other clients.

GALLERY EXPIRY
I carefully adjust all images for colour and brightness using my signature editing style.
Being a short session (more like a taster of what it is like to work with me), I won't be doing detailed photoshopping. So if the kids have a fake tattoo, underwear hanging out, etc - this will remain in the images.
All download galleries will be open for 1 month before closing permanently. Your images will be archived.
Please do not forget to download your images. Again, there will be a $20 fee to retrieve your images from my archives.

YOUR PRINTS ARE READY
All print orders will be processed together. I will be in touch when they are ready to be picked up.
This is when you get to hold a tangible copy of your beautiful family. Incredible, professional prints to display around your home. Heaven!!
Preparation
TIMING
When it comes to mini sessions, timing is everything, Your MUST ARRIVE ON TIME for your photo shoot. Each family has booked a 15 minute slot. If you are running only 10 minutes late it impacts EVERY FAMILY after you!
LOCATION
You may not have heard of S&R orchard, but it is a lovely spot located in Walliston. I always arrive early to see which areas of the orchard are ideal, and will meet you once you have passed through the gate. I will text so you know what I look like and where to meet.
PROPS
There is no need to bring anything with you at all! The beautiful nature setting is all we need. S&R orchard fill the area with all the blossoms with amazing spring installations.
HAIR AND MAKEUP
Getting your hair and make up done is completely up to you! I know you will look beautiful in front of the camera no matter what. I do find that mamma’s who invest a little bit in themselves, feel that little bit more fabulous in front of the camera. And how you feel is what it’s all about at the end of the day!
So if it’s a good excuse to find 45 minutes to escape to be pampered, then go for it! If not, a quick application of mascara defines your eyes and lip gloss accentuates your gorgeous smile.

What to Wear
COLOUR AND PATTERN - NEUTRAL PASTELS AND DAINTY PATTERNS
The best way to make your images timeless is to dress in neutral and pastel/muted tones. This way you don't have a vibrant colour that is too strong for the scene, trying to pull your attention away from what is important - the family connection! Think white, beige, cream, tans, soft blue, blush, sage green - the list goes on.
I love the look of dainty patterns like small flowers and spots on a little girls outfit. Large checks and stripes can also look great on the boys.
We don't want everything to be too busy though, so make sure some solid pieces in complimentary colours are included.
TEXTURE - DIFFERENT NATURAL FABRICS
Layering different textures when choosing your outfits is a great way to really bring your outfits together and add more interest. This is particularly true when everyone is wearing a similar shade, as the texture helps break up the solid colour.
Think cotton, linen, corduroy, velvet, chinos, denim, knits, lace - any textured clothing.
I also like fabric that flows like dresses, as it can look especially beautiful when captured blowing in the breeze.
ACCESSORIES - HATS, THROWS, SENTIMENTAL ITEMS
These can be clothing accessories - an heirloom piece of jewellery, lovely headband or funky hat.
But they can be a larger prop that encourages the family to interact with each other. Think along the lines of throws, a warm shawl, baby wraps or flowers.
What Not to Wear
NO BLACK AND ALL DARK SHADES
I find the contrast between dark clothing and everyone's skin is just too strong and is a distraction when looking at the photograph. This is especially true when dealing with the delicate skin of young children.
However dark colours can look great when only used as an accent colour.
NO LICENSED CLOTHING
We all know that kids love these kinds of clothes (and also the dads!) I’m referring to the Disney princess and superhero clothes, and the t-shirts with huge sports slogans across them.
If you want timeless photos to hang around your home, I would suggest steering clear of these types of clothes on this occasion.
NO MATCHY MATCHY
Think 1990's everyone in jeans and white tops! This look has been done many times in the past, and although it was a hit a the time, I would suggest getting a little more creative and unique to your family.
Tonal dressing and complimentary colours is a wonderful way to look like a cohesive family.
REMOVE DISTRACTIONS
I know how useful apple watches and garmins can be, but they become quite a distraction in photographs when you have so carefully curated the families wardrobe.
And don't forget the hair elastics around the wrist, you'll be surprised how often they're forgotten.
Remember to also remove phones and wallets from your pockets and sunglasses from on top of your head.

Let Kids be Kids ...
DON'T LET THEM BE HUNGRY OR COLD
Being a mini session, we don't have much time to warm up and relax in front of the camera. Thankfully, most kids are on their best behaviour early on so I don't find it a problem. But there are a few things I find vital to having happy kids.
The only time I have kids that truely won't cooperate is when they are either hungry or cold. So please feed your family before the photos, not afterwards. By all means go out for a special treat (I highly recommend it as bribery) but make sure everyone has full tummies before they arrive.
Secondly - being cold. If the weather is unseasonably cold, don't worry. I love snuggly shoots with everyone dressed in cosy knits and lots of layers. It looks so good in camera. You can still look cute wearing boots, stockings, dresses and cardigans for girls, or jeans and a cute blazer for boys. There is no reason to be freezing for your photos. You will end up with blue lips and red noses that are running.
Bring coats that you can take on and off if your outfit requires it. I promise you'll thank me for this advice!
LET KIDS BE KIDS
I know you want the perfect smile from your kids, but every child has their own personality - just like us grown ups. And we all have good days and bad days ourselves.
If your child isn't cooperating, please do not scold them in front of me, when there is also the pressure of time. I guarantee it never works and you will more likely end up with tears or scowling faces. By the time they relax again your time is up. I much prefer bribery for these short shoots - whatever it may be that you like to spoil your kids with :)
I have plenty of tricks up my sleeve to keep the kids happy and engaged, so please leave it to me to get everyone's attention.
TOYS AND SINGING
Depending on the age of your children, a comfort toy might be just the trick to help them settle. I do recommend something discreet that we can try and hide, but you know your child best.
Also, I haven't known a little one that doesn't love a nursery rhyme. So if we need to, there will most definitely be a family (and photographer) sing-a-long :)
