Carousel Family Photographer

2017

As a carousel family photographer, it can be hard to get one child to look at the camera, let alone two on a moving carousel, but I think we did just fine.

I loved being asked to do this session as I have never had the opportunity to shoot on a venetian carousel before.  It is new to the Elizabeth quay area here in Perth and I love it.  I am just waiting (impatiently) for Rosie to be a bit bigger so she can sit on a horse too and then I’ll take my girls there to get their own portraits.

But back to these two lovely girls, I don’t think I got anything but happy faces as they had fun climbing all over the carousel.  Being sisters close in age we also got a few funny faces too 😉  It was a great help to have mum singing and getting their attention, and possibly a bribe of ice-cream helped as well!  I can’t wait for my next session here.

2018

A day trip to the zoo has been our plan for weeks now but with the weather and my children getting the beginning of the season colds we had to keep postponing.  But when the public holiday weekend was filled with sunshine I took the opportunity.  Of course I had camera in hand as it is the first visit I have made with all three girls and captured some lovely child photography Perth Zoo.

Coming when it’s a bit cooler but still sunny was wonderful, the animals were so much more active.  I don’t think I have ever seen a koala so actively rip leaves off the trees and eat them!!  We browsed different sections at a time, stopping to eat or play in between.  We’d just had lunch before wandering through the rainforest and turning the corner to the light catching the mist floating through the air.  With great reluctance I managed to get one of my girls in the frame before the light changed and mist fell from the sky.  I love it!!!

By the end of the day Rosie had finally fallen asleep in the pram so the older girls jumped on the carousel for the last ride of the day (another photo opportunity).  I have been meaning to head to the Elizabeth Quay carousel but I love how this aged carousel turned out in the photos 🙂
